Latest Technology

The Wand™

Dental Excellence now has available the latest technology in the STA “Wand”, a computerized local anaesthetic delivery system. The advantages for you and your family are:

  • A more comfortable injection, the computer is able to deliver the anaesthetic at a rate often below the pain threshold of most people.
  • A more accurate injection, the lightweight and slim wand allows a better tactile feel for the dentist while the computer assists in locating the target site. Greater accuracy means there may be a reduced need for another injection and a more effective anaesthesia allowing comfort during dental procedures.
  • The ability to numb a single tooth with the STA technique, where indicated, the anaesthetic is able to numb the tooth worked on only, without the lip and tongue being affected.
  • The sight of the large metal syringe is now replaced by a slim “Wand”, reducing fear especially for children.

“Penthox™” for nervous patients (Green Whistle)

We find Penthrox, often referred to as green whistle used in ambulances, especially useful for nervous patients, as well as young children. Penthrox, is an effective anaesthetic drug that has many benefits for many clients.
The benefits of Penthrox, are many, and the risks are minimal. The Penthrox is administered via oral inhalation before the procedure begins to feel a pleasant level of sedation anywhere from 30 seconds to three or four minutes.
After the treatment is completed, the patient is feeling comfortable and more relaxed without the sedated feel. And, unlike IV sedation or general anaesthesia, the patient can almost always leave the office by themselves. If you are nervous before or during dental treatment, talk to your Dental Excellence dentist about Penthrox, – it works wonders!
